Stockdale recovering after surgery

Ryan Stockdale after surgery in San Francisco.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.- Ryan Stockdale is out of the hospital and resting at a home in San Francisco.

Ryan checked out of the University of Californa, San Francisco Medical Center on Friday.

He had brain surgery to treat his cluster headaches on Tuesday. We don’t know yet if the procedure will help. But, his family says Ryan’s doing as well as can be expected.

According to Stockdale's wife, Karia, doctors will be turning the stimulator on this Friday. They implanted the device last week, but the swelling in the brain has to go down before they could turn on the actual stimulator.

Now doctors are telling the Stockdale's, it could happen immediately or up to an hour after the stimulator is turned on to tell if it is working for Ryan or if there are any bad side effects.

Karia Stockdale says It is possible Ryan could come home to Idaho this weekend if all goes well.

That surgery was made possible by more than $80,000 in donations and there’s another fundraiser this week for the Stockdale family.

A special silent auction will be held. It’s happening at the Hijinx Comedy Club in Boise on Wednesday. The silent auction starts at 5 p.m. and the comedy show starts at 8 p.m.
