Franklin, Cole schools to be demolished

Franklin, Cole schools to be demolished
BOISE - Two historic schools in Boise will soon be reduced to rubble.

The Boise School board voted unanimously Monday night to tear down both Franklin and Cole Elementary schools.

Both properties have been up for sale for the past two years, but the buildings feature leaky roofs, mold and other problems and haven't received a single bid on either property.

Some groups, including the Idaho Preservation Organization, had hoped to save the buildings and called them historic. The school district believes the properties will be more attractive without the buildings and that's why they'll be demolished.
