EAGLE -- Residents in the Sedona Creek subdivision of Eagle say the abandoned property at State Highway 44 and Linder Road -- an old dog food rendering plant -- is an ugly mess and a major nuisance.

"It's a distraction to the neighborhood," says Sedona resident Robert Bourman. "A lot of people are trying to sell their homes, and looking at this mess, bringing in people to see their homes. It's a total distraction."

The Sedona Creek homeowners association says Walgreen's has owned the property since 2007. And while Walgreen's has knocked down some weeds, the homeowners association says the company has yet to follow through with efforts to tear down the unsightly structures.

There are run-down old rendering buildings as well as a badly deteriorating mobile home which neighbors call a health hazard.

Sedona residents take pride in their neighborhood, but they say just across the fence, the abandoned property is a disgrace.

2 News made repeated calls to Walgreen's to see what their plans are but we only got recorded messages.

But the City of Eagle asks residents to be patient. The city's working with Walgreens and the Department of Environmental Quality.

An environmental study of the property is underway to fully understand what materials are out there and when that's done the DEQ will allow Walgreen's to demolish the structures.
