BOISE - A 16-year-old teenager will be charged with vehicular manslaughter for the death of a local Treasure Valley cyclist.

Michael Anderson, Ada County deputy prosecuting attorney, said the 16-year-old, who was not identified, was driving his car June 11 when he collided with local cyclist Kevin Pavlis, killing him, Anderson said.

The crash occurred near Hill Road and Smith Avenue.

Pavlis was a well known cyclist and outdoor enthusiast in the Treasure Valley. He worked at Idaho Mountain Touring for more than 10 years.

The teen will be charged with the crime on Monday, Anderson said.

The maximum penalty for a juvenile charged with vehicular manslaughter is up to three years supervised probation, 90 days in juvenile detention and driver's license suspension.
