Troy Jackson, Northwest Animal Companions executive director, said Boise Police showed up at his Boise home about two weeks ago for an arrest warrant out of Jefferson County.

A dog and her five puppies were allegedly left out in the cold for several days while the mom dog had two broken legs after apparently being hit by a car.
But the Sheriff's office in Jefferson County issued the arrest warrant after Jackson took the dogs. Boise Police arrested him in the early morning hours.
Jackson says he worked hard to make sure all the dogs received medical treatment and believed the owner of the animals was in support of his efforts. The owner, Jackson says, helped load the animals into Jackson's vehicle.
The story has received a great deal of media attention throughout the state and region. The sheriff's office in Jefferson County has yet to make an official statement about the case.
On Tuesday, Jackson returned the dogs to authorities prior to his court hearing. None of the charges were dropped.
"This would have happened a lot sooner had I not been arrested," Jackson said Monday afternoon. "It's a sad situation."
The mother dog, Barbie, is at a foster home in Boise in preparation for surgery on her pelvis. A veterinarian who treated Barbie said she could die if she had another littler of puppies.
"It's a sad situation," he said. "I know Barbie is probably gonna miss her puppies. It's a tough thing when the puppies first get weaned."
"They belong to Raul Torrez and they are his property and I quote unquote deprived him of his property by rescuing them and giving them medical attention," Jackson said.
Repeated attempted to contact Torrez have gone unanswered.
