Oregon underwear thief pleads guilty
Randall Joseph Giesbers

SALEM, Ore. – Nearly two months after pleading "not guilty" to charges stemming from an August incident where a neighbor said she caught him in her garage, rifling through her dirty laundry and wearing her bra and underwear, a Salem man changed his plea.

In Marion County Circuit Court Monday morning 48-year-old Randall J. Giesbers pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary in response to prosecutor claims Giesbers stole his neighbor's underwear repeatedly over the course of a year.

The charges stemmed from an Aug. 18 break-in call to Marion County sheriff's deputies, who responded to find a man wearing nothing but his neighbor's underwear. Deputies report searching Giesbers' home nearby. There they said they found garbage bags full of women's clothing, underwear, shoes and accessories believed to have been taken from the neighbor's home.

Giesbers pleased not guilty to related charges Nov. 18.

Now that he has changed his plea, he is being sentenced to three years probation, according to the Statesman Journal. Giesbers' probation reportedly will allow him time to seek treatment.

"I'd like to apologize very deeply and sincerely to the court, to (the victim), and my family; all the people I've let down," the Statesman Journal reports Giesbers saying in court.

In a stunning revelation, the Statesman Journal reports that Giesbers' wife of 14 years was in court. However, she declined to comment.
