Brothers accused of neglect plead not guilty

CALDWELL - Two Nampa brothers charged with letting their elderly mother live in filth have plead not guilty to the crime.

David and Daniel Nicks were in Canyon County court Friday morning.

Investigators say David and Daniel are charged with abuse or neglect of a vulnerable adult. They say the brothers let their bed-ridden mother lie in urine, feces and larva and went almost a year without a bath.

Soon after police took her out of the home, she passed away.

The brothers declined to be interviewed.

The brothers could face 10 years in jail and a $25,000 fine if convicted. David Nicks' next court appearance is March 8, while Danny's will be April 5.
