BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- Originally the 8th Street direction change from one way south to one way north was to be completed Sept. 2.
But now work is set to begin Monday at the northeast corner of 8th and Bannock Streets.
A hole will be excavated and a concrete foundation poured for a new signal pole.
It's not everyday you hear that a construction project is ahead of schedule. But this direction change is coming two weeks early.
The Capital City Development Corporation says since most of 8th Street runs north, it just makes sense to have the stretch between Bannock and Main Streets run north too.
And CCDC says the switch will make it easier for motorists with all the Gardner Company construction planned downtown.
A new and improved bike lane will be added on 8th Street which should re-open to traffic August 26.
Expect sidewalk closures and loud noise, but CCDC does not expect any conflicts with The Capital City Public Market or the Pre-Fat Block Party.
