BOISE, Idaho (AP) _ The Idaho Department of Labor says total personal income climbed in Idaho's biggest cities last year.

Income was up 9.9 percent in the five-county metro area including Boise, 9.8 percent in Coeur d'Alene and 9.1 percent in the two-county Idaho Falls region.

Statewide, income was up 7.9 percent. The Department of Labor says that was the eighth highest increase in the nation. The national average was an increase of 6.6 percent.

The personal income numbers include the total of all wages, business owner profits, investment earnings and transfer payments like Social Security.

Department of Labor spokesman Bob Fick says the numbers underscore a steady migration of people and money to Idaho's urban areas.
