BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - A 55-year-old Boise man has been booked on first degree murder after a disturbance at the Cabana Inn in downtown Boise.
Boise Police says a woman was found dead inside a motel room at the Cabana at about 7 a.m. Tuesday. BPD says Thomas Herman and the victim are known to each other.
The Ada County Coroner's office says 46-year-old Mamokete Folkes, died of blunt force trauma due to an assault.
In court on Wednesday, prosecutors say Herman allegedly beat Folkes with his hands and feet -- causing the woman to suffer multiple broken bones and a lacerated liver.
Herman was arrested in later December after officials say he tried to stab a woman inside a hotel room on the 2600 block of West Fairview.
The woman managed to get out of the room without getting hurt during the incident and waited for police. Herman was taken into custody without incident and the pocket knife was recovered.
Herman was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for the December incident, but court records show Herman agreed to plea down to a disturbing the peace charge.
Court records indicate that Herman was sentenced to a work release program.
