BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Boise Police Chief Mike Masterson says he will retire from the police force sometime in the next year.

Masterson has been serving as chief since 2005.

The chief has not announced a specific date.

Masterson came to Boise after serving 28 years in the Madison Police Department in Madison, Wisconsin.

He says he is most proud of several collaborations between the police department and the city and community that helped improve downtown safety and floating the Boise River.
