Boise Police charge man in downtown incident

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- Police have charged a man who threatened to light himself on fire following a confrontation Thursday afternoon.

Boise Police says officers were called by witnesses for a report of stalking with suspect smelling of gasoline and holding a lighter. Officers say the man, Farhan Oudah Farhan, 45, told police he was going to light himself and his van on fire.

BPD says the suspect failed to listen to officers commands and continued to threaten himself and appeared to ram police vehicles with his van. After an hour of "tense negotiations" officers talked him into leaving his vehicle and surrendering.

He was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation. Police say officers discussed the case with prosecutors and booked him on felony arson, stalking and resisting and obstructing officers.
