BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Boise Republicans have invited Rep. Mark Patterson to a meeting to discuss the furor surrounding the revocation of his concealed weapons permit after he failed to disclose his guilty plea in a 1974 rape case.
Dan Luker, the District 15 precinct committee secretary, says the panel will meet next Tuesday.
Another committee member, GOP state Sen. Fred Martin of Boise, wants party officials to seek Patterson's resignation on grounds his behavior is inappropriate.
Luker said Wednesday he's uncertain of the meeting's outcome but that Patterson will be given an opportunity to speak.
After that, district officials will discuss further steps - including whether to consider a possible resolution calling for Patterson's resignation.
Luker points out nothing in law or party rules allow the GOP district to remove an elected official.
