Cole Road closed near mall after car hits power pole
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Cole Road was closed near the Boise Towne Square Mall after a car ran into a power pole that caused lines to fall to the ground Monday evening.

Ada County Dispatch says the call came in just after 8 p.m.

Dispatch says that the car hit the pole at the intersection of Cole and Cascade Street.

Boise Police say the driver of the car ran away from the scene after the crash, but he has since been located and arrested. He is now in the process of being booked into jail.

Boise Police says the driver, 30-year-old Jason Burton of Boise, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to purchase a driver's license and negligent driving, which are all misdemeanors.

Idaho Power says 70 customers in the area lost power after the crash and they had a crew in the area working to get it fixed.

Idaho Power is also reported a large power outage between Cole and Curtis near Fairview Avenue that is affecting 1937 customers. The cause of this outage is still being determined, but it is near the area of the crash.

All power has been restored overnight.

Cole re-opened just before 9:30 p.m. Monday.
