BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - The Better Business Bureau believes a group from California is putting the Idaho Humane Society's logo on donation cans throughout Boise, even though it isn't affiliated with the shelter.

The BBB says around 100 of the cans were placed in Boise businesses. The Humane Society found out about them when business started calling and questioning if they really belong to the nonprofit.

The Humane Society warns that they have nothing to do with the cans. IHS Spokeswoman Hannah Parpart says the best way to donate to the Humane Society is to come in and give directly.

"We want to make sure that people, if they think their donations are coming back to local animals, that a hundred percent of their donations are coming back to local animals," she told KBOI 2News.

The BBB believes about 80 of the cans are still up and warns people not to put money in them.
