Massive house fire lights up Caldwell sky
CALDWELL, Idaho (KBOI) -- A fire ripped through a house on the 1200 block of Eligin Street in Caldwell around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A Caldwell battalion fire chief said the house was abandoned and was unoccupied.

The fire was so big it lit up the sky and made neighbors nervous flames would jump to their homes.

The fire came within 10 feet of other homes.

Corynne Parker left her chili on the stove and left for a couple of hours. She thought that started her house on fire when she saw firefighters covering her street.

"We thought that our house was on fire so me and my boyfriend, we jumped out of grandmas car and ran," Parker said. "I ended up tripping, but I ended up panicking, freaking out and saw that it wasn't our house. (It was) a big relief."

It took fire crews from five surrounding towns about an hour to extinguish it. The home will likely be demolished.
