BOISE, Idaho -- Springtime is here and people around the state are pulling out their fishing rods. Idaho Fish and Game gave fishing lessons to kids at McDevitt Pond in Boise Saturday, helping the youth who are just getting into the sport.

Workers will move the "Take Me Fishing!" trailer from pond to pond in Idaho this summer to teach youngsters how to cast a line.

Fish and Game supplied poles and bait for the kids, and officials said that no license was necessary to take part in the fun.

"We've had a lot of first-time fishers who've never caught a fish, and they're actually catching trout," said Fish and Game employee Korina Martinez. "Had a five-year-old boy, it was his first time fishing and he pulled in a nice one!"

Next Saturday the fish and game crew will be giving fishing lessons at Wilson pond in Nampa.
