Flu Clinic Draws Few
BOISE, Idaho - The Central District Health Department set up flu clinic for children Tuesday. Only 9 children were vaccinated but CDHD says they have appointments available on Thursday.

Some parents say the vaccine for their young ones is hard to find.

"We've been hearing from the community that at some clinics, regular medical providers are short of flu vaccine. We have plenty of it, we'd love to give it to those kids," said Dave Fotsch, Health Department Spokesman.

With temperatures this cold, kids are staying inside and spreading the germs fast.

"If the temperature doesn't get about 20 degrees, they cant let the kids out for recess or lunch hour so they have to do activities inside, which means they are in closed space and they are wrestling around and doing all those things that kids do including spreading flu germs," said Fotsch.

The good news is, if you are going to vaccinate your kids, the health department is ready for you.

"We have a good supply of pediatric flu vaccine in various forms including the shot and the flu mist, if your kid is a little nervous about needles," said Fotsch.

The vaccine costs about $20.
