Former city clerk gets 30 days in jail for jacking $60K

CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — A former clerk of a small, southwest Idaho town has been ordered to serve at least 30 days in the county jail for stealing more than $60,000 in city funds.

The sentence was handed down Monday in the case of 34-year-old Ginny LaTisha Lindemann. She pleaded guilty in April to grand theft for taking cash from city coffers for her personal use.

Investigators say she stole about $40,000 between August 2011 and August 2012 through checks issued from the city's checking account and another $17,000 in purchases using the city's credit card.

Canyon County officials say she has already repaid more than $62,000 in restitution to the city.

Lindemann apologized for her actions in court Monday. She must also serve eight years of supervised probation.
