BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- A video allegedly showing a 17-year-old wrestling and fighting with police officers at Frank Church High School in Boise has garnered more than 22,000 views on YouTube.

And now the teen, officials say, is facing some serious charges including allegations that he punched an officer and a school employee in the face.

Boise PD says on Friday a school resource officer told the 17-year-old that he needed to leave the campus due to an earlier incident. After failing to listen to the officer, BPD says, the officer took the student by the arm to escort him out of the high school.

Officers say the teen moved away abruptly, and as they were trying to take him into custody, the teen started punching the officer in the face.

A 61-year-old school employee was also punched by the student, Boise PD says.

A video of part of the incident was posted to YouTube late last week. The video shows some of the physical struggle between the three people involved, but does not include what lead up to it.

The teen, who has not been identified, has been booked into the juvenile detention facility on felony battery on law enforcement, battery and resisting arrest.

The school district has not elaborated on what the earlier incident was involving the student that prompted officials to ask him to leave the school grounds.

Frank Church is an alternative high school within the Boise School District for at-risk students, including those who have dropped out of or are struggling with succeeding at a traditional high school.

School officials sent a letter home to parents addressing the incident:

We want to inform you about an incident that occurred today at lunch between law enforcement, school staff and a student. The student has been taken into custody and this incident is now a law enforcement matter. In addition, a thorough investigation is currently underway.

School operations returned to normal before the end of the lunch hour at approximately 12:30 p.m.

As this is now a police investigation, please direct any and all inquiries to Boise Police Department. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
