BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Roads had to be closed, and two small businesses evacuated due to a gas leak Thursday evening.

The Boise Fire Department says a construction crew working on a sewer line accidentally ruptured gas lines under Cole Road.

The area was closed down near Cole and Emerald by the Boise Towne Square Mall.

Intermountain Gas responded and stopped the gas leak around 8 pm and Emerald St. was eventually re-opened. Although 35 customers did lose service.

Cole Road south of Emerald is still closed over night while crews make repairs.

Crews estimate that one lane in each direction will be back open in time for Friday morning's commute.

Intermountain Gas estimates service will be restored early in the morning, but a technician has to check the home or business before service can be turned back on.
