BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - It's about to get windy in the Treasure Valley.

On Tuesday, the National Weather Service in Boise upgraded this week's wind watch to a warning. The warning includes the Treasure Valley, western Magic Valley, southwest Highlands, southern Twin Falls county, Owyhee mountains and Malheaur county in Oregon.

The warning goes into effect at 9 a.m. Wednesday and is expected to last through 8 p.m.

The NWS says folks can expect sustained winds of 25 to 40 miles per hour with gusts up to 65 miles per hour.

Bogus Basin could be affected by the wind as well. Officials with the mountain say they are keeping a close eye on the weather, and won't hesitate to shut down the lifts if it becomes a safety issue.

The last time Bogus Basin shut down because of wind, the gusts were topping 85 miles per hour on the mountain.

Damage to trees and power lines is possible. Strong cross winds will cause a travel hazard and property will need to be secured. | Full Forecast
