BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Idaho State Police have a new system in place which will allow residents to get notifications if sex offenders move in our out of their area.
The new system allows residents to get an email alert if a sex offender moves into their neighborhood. They can choose to get notices in a radius of one, three, or five miles from their house.
It will also allow victims to track a certain person who may have hurt them in the past.
Many residents say they like the idea of the program because many times they forget to constantly see if the information has changed.
"I think it would be really good for somebody like me because I don't really think about that very often like checking the website," said Tyler Mannlein of Boise. "Because it doesn't come up to me so I think it would be good to like be pre-warned.
For years residents have been able to look up the information online, but the new system will send them email updates automatically.
