All Eastbound lanes of I-84 open after tanker fire.

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - A tanker truck caught fire on the interstate near milepost 68, which is near the Port of Entry by the Ada and Elmore County line.
Witnesses told Idaho State Police that just after 4 p.m.the truck lost it's drive train which appears to have caught the single tanker on fire. The tank was carrying 1,500 gallons of diesel fuel. The fire completely engulfed the tank and was so intense ISP had to close all Eastbound lanes from Eisenman Road.
That caused traffic to back up for more than 8 miles, but authorities were able to open one lane three hours later. Because of the backup fire trucks and the Hazmat team were delayed getting to the scene from Boise and surrounding areas. Once on scene the Hazmat crew decided it would be safest for the crews and the surrounding environment if they let the fuel burn off. Flames shot more than 40 feet in the air and could be seen from over a mile away.
Just before 11 p.m all lanes were opened back up and the remaining debris was cleared.

Traffic was in perfect order in right lane until State Trooper sent the State incident truck away. Traffic then moved forward to fill the left lane. Then things were plugged. I think a second grader could have handled traffic better, everyone wanted to cooperate, just needed a little leadership.. Twelve degrees was hard on some, especially those with small children . Also, in 12 degree weather, would be nice to get people moving instead of picking up wreck. Only took 20 minutes to let us all ,by. The wreck was just being moved to a fenced yard untill next day, whats the hurry. Just a thought
Hope no one was injured. Slightly warmer weather at mile post 68.
