PAYETTE, Idaho -- An 18-year-old man will be charged with second degree murder for allegedly killing his 60-year-old grandmother, Payette County officials said Monday.
Tyler Naughton, who's currently in the Adams County Jail, will be charged with murder and grand theft. He's now suspected of shooting his grandmother, Sherryl M. Kenney. Once he's transported to Payette County, he'll be served with the new warrants.
Sheriff's deputies and Fruitland City Police responded to NW Second Street in Payette just before 7 a.m. Sunday to find the 60-year-old dead in her home.
The Payette County Coroner's office says Kenney was shot four times and died from the wounds.
Sheriff's deputies named Naughton a person of interest in the case because of his connection to the victim.
Officials have also said they've received a warrant to search a Ford F350 pickup, which he was found in Sunday evening. He's scheduled to be arraigned in Payette County court Wednesday afternoon.
Police have not released a motive.
