IDAHO CITY, Idaho (KBOI) -- Growth of the Summit Fire in Boise County has slowed.

The Idaho Department of Lands said Friday the 250-acre fire did not grow Thursday night. The fire, located about 14 miles northeast of Idaho City and four miles north of Pilot Peak, is estimated to be about 10 percent contained.

About 200 fire personnel will work Friday on control lines around the fire, dropping retardant and water from aerial resources and cutting line (removing fuels) around some portions of the fire.

Resources assigned to the fire include 1 helicopter, 2 heavy air tankers, and 3 single engine air tankers, 6 engines, 11 20-person hand crews, and 8 smoke jumpers.

Lightning started the fire on Tuesday evening and strong winds spread the flames quickly. There is one known remote cabin in the area, but it is not threatened.
