The Lodgepole Fire was detected around noon on Saturday, July 20, on the Salmon-Challis National Forest, prompting the evacuation of Mosquito Flat Campground. Local fire resources were dispatched to the scene where aggressive fire suppression efforts were put into place. The fire is currently burning in lodge pole pine and dispersed Douglas fir. Road guards are currently stationed at Forest Service road # 086 where Bear Creek junctions with Challis Creek Road (#080) and at the Jeff Flats Road (#079) intersection with Pine Summit (road #080). The public is discouraged to enter these areas at this time to ensure public and firefighter safety.
