Boise Factory Outlet Mall could lose business from construction
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) – The Idaho Transportation Department is hoping to help clear up some traffic congestion in East Boise.

The plan includes giving the Gowen interchange a makeover. The Transportation Department will be adding a third lane, widening all the lanes and putting in two turning lanes.

But in order for all this to happen, lanes will need to be closed at the Gowen interchange for construction. But a major problem is this exit is the main way most people get to the Boise Outlet Mall or to Micron.

“Well I think the end result will be fantastic, but the pain of going through the transition of course will be difficult for everyone, but again the end result will be good, so I think that everyone should keep that in mind as we go through all the phases of construction,” said, Stephanie Ledwich, an employee at the outlet mall.

For those that will be feeling the pinch of the project and want to voice their concerns, there is an open house tonight (Wednesday) from 4-6 p.m. at the Boise Factory Outlet Mall.

The construction project on the Gowen Interchange will start next spring and will cost $31 million.
