NAMPA, Idaho -- A group of 250 underprivileged children got a special holiday surprise of a bicycle on Sunday at the Christian Faith Center's 6th annual Community Christmas event.

The children were submitted into the bike donation, aimed at getting well-deserving children a Christmas gift when they otherwise might not have one.

“Our priority is to provide these well-deserving children with a positive experience this Christmas. It’s a great way to give back and to be a part of something bigger than ourselves,” said Pastor Monty Sears.

Pastor Sears and his wife, Kelli, started the giveaway when they came to Nampa six years ago. They say that it has been as successful as similar bike giveaways at their previous ministries.

“The whole church gets involved and it reaches a very special segment of our community,” said Kelli Sears.

Most of the bikes are purchased with money raised within the congregation, but community partners such as Walmart helped out by donating a few bikes as well.

In total, Christian Faith Center will have given away approximately 1250 bikes over the past six years.

This year the church was able to acquire 50 more bikes than they did last year.
