NAMPA, Idaho (AP) — A southwest Idaho man accused of shooting two Canyon County sheriff's deputies has pleaded not guilty to his charges.

28-year-old Kyle Alan Batt faces two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer, two counts of inflicting great bodily injury, and resisting or obstructing police.

The Idaho Press Tribune reports that Batt made a plea of not guilty on Friday in 3rd District Court.

Batt has already been sentenced to 15 years in prison on federal gun charges in connection with the case.

Prosecutors say Batt fled when deputies tried to arrest him last October and that he then led them into an ambush, shooting both multiple times.

Both deputies survived. Brad Childers has returned to work. Mike Roth is waiting for his arm to heal.
