Memorial Day ceremonies across the Treasure Valley

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- Several events across the Treasure Valley will honor those men and women who died while serving in our country.

Boise:

Idaho State Veterans Cemetery

10 a.m.

The public is invited to attend the 10Th annual ceremony. The program features music from the Idaho National Guard 25Th Army Band, a wreath laying ceremony, rifle and cannon salutes, the singing of the Lakota Sioux Memorial Veterans tribute song, a bagpipe lament by the Boise Police Pipes and Drums, and a flyover from the Warhawk Museum. Everyone attending is asked to park at the Optimist Youth Sports Complex at 9889 Hill Rd. A free shuttle will take you to the Cemetery.

Morris Hill Cemetery & Fort Boise Military Reserve

1 p.m. & 3 p.m.

The Idaho Civil War Volunteers will conduct an annual Civil War flag-raising ceremony, eulogy, and gun salute at the Veterans Monument in Morris Hill Cemetery on N. Latah at 3 p.m. It will be repeated for a second time at 3 p.m. at the Fort Boise Military Reserve Cemetery on Mountain Cove Rd.

 

Meridian:

Rock of Honor inside Kleiner Memorial Park

10 a.m.

The public is invited to attend this brief service. The ceremony will feature a reading of the names of Meridian's 62 military fallen, which are engraved on the Rock of Honor.

 

Nampa:

Veteran's Loop of Kohlerlawn Cemetery

10 a.m.

The public is invited to attend this one hour ceremony. It includes a bagpipe show, several key speakers, a laying of the wreath, a taps musical piece, and other musical numbers. Walking tours will also be lead at 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 2 p.m. starting at Veteran's Loop.
