Students honor classmates killed in Middleton crash

MIDDLETON, Idaho (KBOI) - Friends and family held a memorial in Middleton on Saturday for the two sisters killed in a car crash.

Hundreds showed up at the high school to pay their respects to 17-year-old Ashton Braden and 6-year-old Sophia Moore.

On January 3, police said that Braden was driving on Farmway Road with her two younger sisters, Sophia and 11-year-old Zoey Moore, when she failed to yield at a stop sign, and was hit by a truck.

Braden would have turned 18 the next day.

Zoey was the only sister to survive, escaping the crash with non-life threatening injuries. She has since been released from the hospital.

Police say none of the girls were wearing their seat belts during the crash.

Students still on their winter break were shocked to hear the news about their classmates.

It was especially hard for players on the Middleton Girls Basketball Team who found out about their friends death just hours before their game against Thursday night against Columbia.
