BOISE COUNTY, Idaho (KBOI) - Idaho State Police say a single vehicle crash in Boise County early Saturday morning killed a Meridian man and seriously injured his passenger.
Police say 33-year-old Nicholas Garshelis died at the scene of the crash, which happened two miles west of State Highway 55, south of Horseshoe Bend.
According to police, Garshelis was driving north on Highway 55 at a high rate of speed around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. A Boise County deputy attempted to pull him over, but police say Garshelis didn't comply.
Police said the deputy pursued Garshelis's vehicle until it turned west onto Pearl Road, where they discontinued the pursuit. From there, officers say Garshelis then failed to negotiate a curve. They say his vehicle went off the left shoulder and overturned.
According to Idaho State Police, Garshelis's passenger, 35-year-old Cayce Myers from Ada County, was airlifted to Saint Alphonsus in Boise. Officers said both of them were wearing their seatbelts.
Idaho State Police is continuing their investigation.
