NAMPA, Idaho (KBOI) -- The Nampa School School District has hired its next superintendent.

The NSD said Friday it's hired David Peterson, who's currently the superintendent at the North Mason School District in Belfair, Wash.

"I am so humbled and excited to join Team Nampa. I have been impressed by the commitment, passion and excitement the staff and community have to create a great future for our kids, our schools and community," Peterson said.

The Nampa Board of Trustees unanimously agreed to offer Peterson the position as the leader of the school district Thursday. Peterson accepted the position and will officially start July 1. He will make about $140,000 a year.
