There's a new place to play in Boise

Marianne Williams Park is now open.

It's located off of Warm Springs Avenue and sits on 72 acres of land, making it Boise's third largest park on the river.

The plot was donated to the city by Larry Williams in honor of his wife, Marianne.

The park has two ponds, a gazebo, a large picnic area, lots of open grass and over a mile of paved pathways. There aren't any playgrounds or sports fields in the park, but visitors say they didn't mind.

"I think it actually makes the kids do without and find some fun things to do on their own," said father Greg Macmillan.

The city plans to add more parking, a bridge over Walling Creek and fishing docks in the future.
