Officials identify victim of shooting near Jerome

JEROME, Idaho (AP) — The Jerome County sheriff's office has released the name of a man who died of a gunshot wound in a garage south of Jerome.

Sheriff Doug McFall says 47-year-old Jerry L. Davis of Hollister died Thursday morning. Deputies were called at about 10:15 a.m.

McFall says another man who was in the garage at the time of Davis' death was interviews by detectives and released.

McFall has said Davis' death was not a suicide, but did not say if the other man was somehow involved. McFall released a statement saying area residents have no reason to believe they're in danger.

The shooting is still under investigation.
