Police: Nampa man arrested after brief standoff
Patrick Massie, 52 of Nampa

NAMPA, Idaho -- Officers arrested a Nampa man after he refused to cooperate with officers during a child abuse investigation on Sunday.

At around 10:20 am Sunday, Nampa police went out to the 400 block of Chestnut St. with a search warrant related to a child abuse investigation.

When officers tried to serve the search warrant the homeowner, 52-year-old Patrick Massie, wouldn't let them inside.

Officials said that Massie's neighbors were evacuated from their homes after police learned that he had several guns inside with him.

Massie did not directly threaten police during the incident, officials said.

Nampa police called out their tactical response and crisis negotiation teams to help with the situation. After about 50 minutes on the phone with crisis negotiation, Massie came out of the house and surrendered to police.

Massie was taken to the Canyon County Jail, but his charges are pending. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday.
