Post Falls homes evacuated after car hits gas line

POST FALLS, Idaho (AP) - Several northern Idaho residents were evacuated from their Post Falls homes after a car hit a house and ruptured a natural gas line.

The Coeur d'Alene Press reports that the driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

Police say the woman was driving a 1991 Toyota Corolla late Monday night when the vehicle hit a parked car, jumped a curb, went through a fence and hit the historic downtown home. Post Falls police determined that the resulting gas leak posed a risk to the neighborhood, and temporarily evacuated homes within a several-block radius. No one within the damaged home was injured.
