Coroner on infant's death: 'Abusive head injury'

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - The Ada County Coroner's office has listed the death of a 1-year-old as homicide.

Coroner Erwin Sonnenberg says Joseph Wayne Graham died Wednesday morning at St. Lukes hospital in Boise and called the cause of death as an "abusive head injury."

Also on Thursday, prosecutors have amended a felony injury to a child charge for Airman Richard Ryan Laubach, 20, and charged him with first degree murder. He's being held without bond and has been appointed a public defender.

Mountain Home Police says officers were called after emergency responders found Graham, who was unresponsive. The Associated Press reports that prosecutors say the child sustained a broken leg, skull fractures, bruises and swelling of the brain.
