Thursday: School Closures and Delays

Does anyone know if schools will be closed tomorrow and if so which ones?

I couldn't believe it this morning when I witnessed it RAINING ICE FOR 2 HOURS at 3am, turned on the radio and heard that Boise School District was still encouraging parents to get out there with their youngsters to make sure they go to school today. Meanwhile, Boise Police Department was telling people to AVOID DRIVING if they can, Major Tow Truck companies were calling our taxi business to say that they had EVERY SINGLE TOW TRUCK out on a call from all of the accidents. THE FREEWAY GETS SHUT DOWN from Broadway Ave all the way to Mtn. Home, and going outside is literally walking or driving on an ice skating rink. To Quote Mom84 "I am disappointed in the Boise School District in keeping the schools open," is a MASSIVE UNDERSTATEMENT!!!My child attends school in the Boise School District.  

I think it is very dangerous for our kids to attempt to get to school on days like this. Just because the school  board members can make it to work that should NOT involve our kids and for some reason they can not figure out why more and more parents are starting to home school.  If you call the school district one of the things you will be told is " Well I made it to work ok"

I am disappointed in the Boise School District in keeping the schools open,

 

 In their procedures it state: ICE: Ice is our most dangerous winter weather condition. Freezing rain and/or refreezing of melted snow make our roads, streets and sidewalks extremely treacherous for pedestrians, and vehicles. Icy conditions may force us to close, even if it appears that no other dangerous conditions exist.

 

It is a sheet of ice out there - schools should be closed to minimize the traffic on the roads, or at least delayed until the winter advisory is lifted.
