CROUCH, Idaho (KBOI) -- A search has been called off for a missing man in Boise County.

The Garden Valley Fire Department says the 43-year-old Minnesota man was last seen near the Payette River at Skinny Dipper Hot Springs off Banks Lowman Road.

On May 2, deputies say Dean Eric Christianson had been with several adults that were going to the Skinny Dipper Hot Springs. While at the pull out, Christianson walked down to the Payette River to fill a canteen with water. He hasn't been seen since.

When he didn't return, the friends went looking for him, but were unable to find him. They waived down a Boise County Sheriff's Deputy who called out  fire fighters to begin searching the river.

The fire department launched a boat into the river and searched about 12 miles downstream but didn't locate the man. They also used several people along the banks and a helicopter.

One of the issues is that the water is churning so much that it's causing it to get murky. Fire fighters say because the water is so cold if he is still in the river it would cause the body to stay sunken.

With so many people expected to be on the river over the nice weekend, fire crews are hoping people will keep an eye out.
