NAMPA, Idaho (KBOI) - Jim and Patricia Irwin had their '92 Buick Roadmaster stolen last week. They also had their wheelchair and walker in the car.
"I was just stunned. Who would want a '92 Buick big boat car?" Jim Irwin said.
They weren't the only one in their senior community that had their car robbed.
"There was four other cars broken into that night and all they did was kind of trash what was in the glove compartments. But for some reason they liked ours," Irwin said.
Nampa Police says it has seen an uptick in these type of crimes.
"It sometime will go in waves. Unfortunately, we have been recently getting hit pretty hard with vehicle burglaries and stolen vehicles," Sgt Curt Shankle of Nampa Police said.
Irwin is the first to say he never thought they would get robbed living in a quiet place for 12 years. "We got too comfortable, didn't lock my door, now I'm paying for it," Irwin said.
Now his neighbors are pitching in to get him and his wife out and about. They don't have a way of getting to doctors appointments or the grocery store.
The Irwin's took a shot and put an ad on Craigslist to try to get their stuff back. "They could bring it back just like they took the Buick, they could come at 2 or 3 in the morning and drop it off in the car port and nobody would even know they were here," Irwin said.
