Holocaust survivor on statement: 'It's very offensive'

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - A Republican senator from northern Idaho has compared the country's health care plans to the Holocaust.
Idaho Sen. Sheryl Nuxoll (R-Cottonwood) posted the comments to her Twitter and Facebook accounts this week.
"The insurance companies are creating their own tombs," Nuxoll wrote. "Much like the Jews boarding the trains to concentration camps, private insurers are used by the feds to put the system in place because the federal government has no way to set up the exchange."
The senator, who's been an Idaho legislator since 2010, opposes President Obama's health care plans as well as Idaho's plan to begin an insurance exchange program.
"Several years from now, the federal government will want nothing to do with private insurance companies. The feds will have a national system of health insurance and they will pull the trigger on the insurance companies."
Nuxoll declined to comment with KBOI News, however, she did tell the Spokesman Review that she did not mean to disrespect the Jewish community.
But Holocaust survivor Rose Beal of Boise isn't buying that disclaimer. Her entire extended family was murdered in the Holocaust and she says she was lucky to escape her native Germany alive.
"It's very offensive. It's insensitive, offensive," Beal told KBOI News. "I was angry when I read about it. I thought: what a dumb, stupid remark to make."
"There was no respect," she said.
Too soon we forget, to "late" we get to smart?
Senator Nuxoll is right, why are we so eager to enter into the fray of assisting the federal government in the takeover of 1/6th of our economy. Social Security is broke, Medicare is broke, Medicaid is broke, and we want to allow the government to be in charge of health care. Does anybody see anything wrong with this picture? There are real solutions to the problem we face in healthcare and the delivery of it, however they will not be provided via any government solution. Unless free market forces are put into play and consumers are put in charge of the decision making process you will never lower cost. We have a government spending wildly out of control, offering no solutions and now the press is challenging a comparison to the holocaust. Senator Nuxoll's comments represent exactly what will happen to the best medical and technical health care in the world. It will be the annihilation of private insurance companies and the best medical care in the world. Medical care, which is recognized thru out the world, as some of the best in the world, as demonstrated through the utilization of so many foreign nationals. Is this really what we want to do to our health care?

It was a horrible tragedy what happened to the Jews and I'm thankful Sen. Nuxoll used this strong accurate analogy to bring home the Truth. You have my full support Sen. Nuxoll! I pray more of your constituents stand firm using strong analogies that wake up American's to what Obama is trying to do. Â
Yet Idaho receives $2.39 per resident from the Gubmint for every dollar it puts in. I say the senator needs to return some money if she feels strongly about gubmint programs. http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2011/11/states-federal-taxes-spending-charts-mapsÂ
@FakeCliffMass Of that $2.39 returned to the State of Idaho, $1.00 is borrowed or just printed. That leaves a debt for our children. An illegal debt, because Idahoans signed off on a balanced budget constitution. Just becasue it was the US governement that signed the promissary note does not mean Idahoans won't have to pay for it. Go to any search engine and type in, "How do I qualify for" and the suggestions that pop up are all "free" money programs from the government. Think deeply the next time you read motherjones.
I think Nuxoll refers to the idea of people making significant changes without asking tough questions and getting answers. Much of the new healthcare system is yet to be written. It is an unknown. What will be the consequences intended and unintended. She does not mean to be literal. Take a breath. By the way, alternative plans are out there to Obamacare.
PEOPLE IN IDAHO DO NOT MAKE A LIVABLE WAGE Â LET ALONE ENOUGH IN THEIR BUDGET TO AFFORD HEALTH INSURANCE, AND AGAIN LET ALONE ANY EXTRA TO AFFORD TO CONTRIBUTE TO AN RETIREMENT FUND.Â
YOU ARE REPUBLICAN Â AND THEY COULD CARE LESS,. YOU EMPLOY PEOPLE TO WORK WITH MONEY TO BE WORKING CAPITAL, AS MONEY IS A DEAD THING, BUT YOU HAVE TO HAVE PEOPLE DO THE WORK TO AFFORD MONEY TO WORK. YOU SAY LABOR IS A DRAIN, A LIABILITY,BUT LABOR IS BUSINESS Â SUPPORT EXPENSE THAT DOES ALL OF THE WORK SO BUSINESS CAN BE A BUSINESS, Â YOU HAVE TO SPEND MONEY MONEY TO MAKE MONEY.
