Sheriff: Woman pointed gun at victim after breaking car glass
KUNA, Idaho (KBOI) - A 40-year-old Meridian woman has been charged with felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after a disturbance at a Kuna School District office building Thursday morning.
The Ada County Sheriff's Office says at 6:24 a.m. Thursday, dispatchers received a call of shots fired in the parking lot of a building in the 700 block of East Porter Street.
Authorities say the suspect, Sherry Lynn Borgeman, used a window punch device to break a vehicle's driver side window and then pointed a gun at the 39-year-old victim.
The sheriff's office says Borgeman then pulled pepper spray from her pocket and sprayed the victim.
A witness and the victim had originally believed the gun had fired when the glass shattered, however, deputies say the gun never went off. (Photos from the Scene>>>)
There was reportedly a short physical struggle between the two women, described by police as friends, before a witness stepped in to help.
Deputies say the bystander physically removed the gun from the suspect's hand, the sheriff's office says. Police say Borgeman then fled the area in a vehicle. Witnesses gave police the suspect's license plate who were able to track her down at a home on the 600 block of Applegate in Meridian.
She was later taken into custody after about an hour of negotiations with police.
The victim, who's an employee of the Kuna School District, was transported to St. Luke's West in Meridian as a precaution.
