48-year-old missing Boise man likely drowned in Snake River

SWAN FALLS DAMN, Idaho (KBOI) - The Ada County Sheriff's Office now believes a missing 48-year-old who went missing on the Snake River likely has drowned.

Ada County Sheriff's deputies searching near Swan Falls Dam have found no sign of the man missing since last week.

On Monday, officials had hoped to continue looking for the man, however, the gusting wind and rough water made it unsafe for crews to put a boat in the water. Deputies used dirt bikes to search the banks on both sides of the water where the man was last seen.

The 48-year-old Boise man was last seen in the water Thursday evening. He was with three other adults who say he had been swimming but say they lost sight of him at about 8 p.m.  He has not been seen since.

Deputies searched the area immediately following the man's disappearance and on several  occasions since. Based on all of the information gathered so far, the 48-year-old  is believed to have drowned. Investigators say there is nothing to indicate foul play. They say alcohol was a factor.

Deputies will continue to search in and around the water, as weather permits, in an effort to recover the missing 48-year-old.
