STAR, Idaho (KBOI) - Idaho Fish and Game would like to talk to who ever did this.

Officials say someone shot a trumpeter swan near the Boise River on Friday. At more than 20 pounds, and with a wingspan of eight feet, the trumpeter swan is the largest waterfowl in North America and the largest swan in the world.

Hunting swans is illegal in Idaho.

Fish and Game says an officer found the poached swan at the edge of a pond near Bent Lane. Anyone with information can call Citizens Against Poaching at 1-800-632-5999. A reward is being offered.

Callers can remain anonymous.
