MERIDIAN, Idaho (KBOI) - Two 18-year-olds have been charged and booked over allegations they were making homemade bombs.

Meridian Police says a couple was at home watching TV when they heard an explosion. They went into their garage and found a coke bottle between their two cars.

An officer near Linder and McMillan roads spotted a vehicle parked illegally and when they approached, the officer found two 18-year-olds, Riley Thomas, and Brandon Ehle. Meridian PD says the two were making chemical bombs from soda bottles.

Meridian Police says nine bombs were found in total. The suspects were testing the homemade bombs at Settler's Park before heading into a nearby subdivision. Meridian PD says they tossed the bombs from the car while driving around.

Both were arrested on unlawful possession of a destructive device or bombs. No injuries were reported.
