BOISE, Idaho - The holidays are here and it's a time for giving, but this is also a record setting time of receiving.

The Boise Rescue Mission needs 1,800 more turkeys to fill the Christmas dinner boxes.

"The need is greater than we've ever seen before," said Rev. Bill Roscoe with the mission.

Between the Boise Rescue Mission and the women's shelter, they're housing 2,000 more people who've never been homeless and this Thanksgiving they're feeding hundreds more.

"We had over 730 families call us for turkeys and food boxes who've never called us before," he said.

The call for help stretches far beyond the two local shelters. The Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, and several other community organizations are also donating thousands of Thanksgiving dinner boxes to make sure not one family goes hungry.

For those families and for anyone across the Treasure Valley, the mission will hold two Thanksgiving Feasts on Wednesday.

At Cathedral of the Rockies from 11a.m. to 1p.m. and Nampa First Church of the Nazarene from 11a.m. all the way till 6 at night.

And just when they got enough turkeys to fill families for Thanksgiving, the clock is now ticking down to collect enough turkeys for the next holiday.

Boise Rescue Mission is accepting cash and turkey donations.
