CALDWELL, Idaho -- While police were helping a car that had lost control and crashed on an icy overpass Sunday morning, a second vehicle slid over a curb and into a guardrail, stopping with its front tires hanging off of an overpass, police said.
At around 8:20 a.m. Sunday, officers from Caldwell Police responded to the 10th ave. overpass near Arthur Rd. after a vehicle hit a patch of ice and skidded into a guardrail.
As police were assisting the driver, a GMC Sierra pickup truck also lost control, breaking through the overpass guardrail and coming to a stop with its front wheels dangling over the side.
The driver, Manuel Navarette Cueveas, was able to get out of his truck without any difficulties.
Officers then closed down the 10th street overpass because of the icy conditions. It was reopened after the Caldwell City Street Department sanded the roadway.
Traffic enforcement officials ask drivers to drive slower and be aware of the possible road hazards caused by winter weather.
