BOISE, Idaho - It's spring break for the University of Idaho. But some Vandals won't be enjoying a beach or a party.
A group of students are participating in alternative spring break. The students will spend the week volunteering at City Light, a shelter for women and children in downtown Boise.
"We will be doing a lot of painting, maybe organizing some donated clothing, as well as helping serve lunches. It's challenging and it pushes you out of your comfort zone but it's really worth it, " said UI Junios, Maggy Hand.
Other students from the University of Idaho are volunteering in places like Atlanta and Redwood City, California.
